The first six months are the "main growth phase". They require high quality protein and nutrients.

The next 6- 12 months require a reduced protein content to help prevent any growth disorders.

Now fully grown, finding the right diet to match their energy requirements is key.

Now in old age, diets with a lower fat and phosphorus are needed.

Great Sports To Try With Your Dog

Exploring the wild with dog

Do you know that feeling when you come back exhausted from the gym, or a run, ready to relax on your sofa, only to be greeted with an energetic pooch with puppy dog eyes? We know that feeling all too well. We also know that the only option is to put on your trainers and get back out there with your favourite four-legged friend.

But what if there was another option?

What if you could get your fitness-kicks at the same time as your dog, while having some real fun together in the process? The good news is you can! Here are our top sports to try out with your dog...

Doga

Grab your yoga mat and get practising your downward dog. If you have a particularly relaxed dog, or an older dog who needs less exercise, then this is a great option. Combining classic yoga poses with dog training, gentle massage and stretching is a great way to get fit, alongside your pooch.

Paddleboarding

If you’ve got a pooch who’s well behaved and who loves the water then why not take them paddleboarding. Get your dog to sit on the board and reward them with a treat when they stay. Then, stand on the board behind them and once you’ve got your balance you’re off! This might take a bit of practice, and we’re sure there may be a few splashes, but once you’ve mastered it you’ll enjoy hours of fun!

Bikejoring

Biikejoring is an amazing way to get rid of your pooches pent up energy. This sport involves putting a harness on your dog and having them run in front of your bicycle or scooter. Not only is this a great way to burn off some of your doggo's excess energy, but it's also a brilliant way to see the countryside, and help keep you fit too!

Plogging

Now, this might be our favourite! Plogging is a litter-picking jog. To do it, set off on your favourite running route with a rubbish bag and some gloves, and pick up any litter you see along the way. Obviously, your doggo won't be able to pick up the litter themselves - but we're sure they'll enjoy the moral support.

We hope these inspire you to try something new with your pooch, and we’d love to hear how you get on! 🐾
